en Plein Air
en Plein Air is French "in the open". en Plein Air are artists painting on location to give you just a glimpse or impression. It's focusing on light and atmosphere. The movement was started by the Impressionists in the 19th century (Degas, Cassatt, Monet, Manet, Pissaro, Renoir, etc). For the first time they could transport paints into the field in tubes and not have to stay in the studio to mix paints and chemicals as they painted. They were not accepted into the art community at the time. Today, and for over a decade artists are meeting and going out to challenge themselves and capture momets in time. Artists work through the cold, snow, rain, heat and bugs to persue their passion.
